U.S. Mint Uncirculated Coin Set
The 1990 Mint Set (Buy on eBay) represents another issue of the broader product series that can be acquired today for less than the original issue price. Each set includes the ten coins issued for circulation during the year, with a collective face value of $1.82. The United States Mint marketed and sold the sets to collectors for $7.00 per set. Some bargain hunting will uncover sets priced several dollars lower.
Circulating coins were struck at the Philadelphia and Denver Mint facilities. The denominations include the cent, nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar. In addition to these ten coins, each 1990 Mint Set also includes tokens from each mint. The tokens include a large “P” or “D” and “UNCIRCULATED P” or “UNCIRCULATED D” on one side, and the U.S. Treasury Department seal on the other side.
None of this year’s circulation coins are of particular note, unless encountered in exceptionally high grade and/or with noted grading attributes like Full Torch or Full Steps.
The Philadelphia Mint coins and token are packaged in a single cellophane bordered in blue, while the Denver Mint coins and token are packaged in a second cellophane with blue border. A certificate of authenticity with coin specification information is provided. The coins and COA are packaged in an illustrated envelope.
